Public Feedback & Involvement, Tools & Strategies...

How can our agency encourage two-way conversations with the public to share ideas and expertise to improve our work? What specific tools and strategies should we use to encourage these public conversations?

Veterans and Health Care Reform

With Obama wanting Health Care Reform why are veterans not being brought up on health care issues in the bill? Are we going to be standing in longer lines for care. Are we going to be pushed aside like we so often are? I just find it quite typical of the government when they dont want you to know something they click in on other issues to divert you away. Will veterans be fined for not getting government health care. ...more »

Acknowledging cultural impacts on poor SCD documentation

Recently I have had the pleasure of going through the disability claims process. I am not here to denigrate the VA employees, as overall my experience has been alright. However, I do want to address the documentation and proof of injury and ongoing treatment requirements as part of the disability claims process. More specifically, I would like to make an argument that the burden of proof should be placed on the servicemember's ...more »

Acupuncture available in my local VA system

Veterans should be able to receive acupuncture from Licensed Acupuncturists at their local VA facility or have acupuncture treatment covered by their health care insurance. Acupuncture is a drug-free way to reduce symptoms of pain, sleep troubles (various forms of insomnia), anxiety, depression, anger, flashbacks, and running thoughts. These symptoms are common in post-combat stress, post-traumatic stress, operational ...more »

emotional support for veterans

Institute a program whereby retired, qualified social workers would either volunteer their time, or accept a low wage to work with one returning vet having difficulties readjusting. In conjunction, enlist combat veterans from previous conflicts in a 'buddy system', similar to AA, volunteer or low wage, to be on call 24/7, when their vet needs support. The returning soldier would have both a friend who understands the ...more »

Putting Veterans to Work

There seems to be a more and more serious corruption problem in state and local politics that could use people loyal to the country as a whole. My idea is to use Veterans as auditors on the use of Federal funds for local and state projects. This would give qualified Veterans access to city and state project funding, process, and accounting to prevent the kind of corruption that goes on at the local levels. It could be ...more »

cost savings and radiation exposure

Recently had X-Rays taken and was referred to another VA Contract Orthopedic Physician for further evaluation. Now, the VA had already taken X-Rays of my Right Hip and had them electronically. However, when I went to see the Contract Physician, we took numerous X-Rays again. This seems to me to be (1) Double Dose of Radiation; and (2) a way to cut down on costs, as the X-Rays from the Contracting Physician I am sure were ...more »

This is the worst idea to ever come from the "good idea" factory! Actually, whatever SES agreed to this should be fired because it's this type of mentality that makes you one of the worst government agencies out there...and that is saying something.
